San Gerlando Festival

The 2025 edition of the San Gerlando festival in Porto Empedocle took place on February 25th, the day of the patronal solemnity. In the Mother Church on Via Roma, a solemn Eucharistic celebration was held, featuring the kissing of the relic, the offering of the votive candle by the Redentore-Addolorata confraternity, and the distribution of blessed bread to the faithful.

2025 was a year of particular importance for the Gerlandine devotion in the Agrigento area: in Agrigento, the patronal celebrations were part of the context of Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025 and the Jubilee Year, with the presentation of the restored urn of the saint and the pontifical mass in the Cathedral. In Porto Empedocle, too, the community renewed its bond with its first bishop.
