San Gaetano Festival

In 2025, the hamlet of Rinella, in the municipality of Leni on the island of Salina, celebrated its San Gaetano Festival on August 6th and 7th. The fishing community gathered around the patron saint with traditional Eucharistic celebrations and the procession of the statue through the village streets. The most anticipated moment was, as is customary, the sea procession on August 7th: the statue of San Gaetano carried onto the water aboard the fishermen's boats, a unique rite that testifies to the deep bond between Rinella and its protector. The festival brought the village to life in the heart of the Aeolian summer, amidst faith, tradition, and hospitality.
