San Francesco a Ripa Festival

The 2025 festival at Ripa Grande

The 2025 edition opened on October 1st with the preparation mass and continued on October 2nd with a second celebration presided over by an auxiliary bishop of Rome. The theme chosen by the Franciscan community was "Saint Francis of Assisi, man of reconciliation".

Transitus and Solemnity

On October 3rd, the parish experienced the Transitus rite: rosary animated by the Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order, vespers, and evening mass. On October 4th, masses followed one another from early morning; the morning celebration, presided over by the Provincial Minister of the Friars Minor, was also attended by the Minister of the Interior. In the evening, the solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by a cardinal.

The procession

In the evening, the statue of Saint Francis went out in procession through the streets of Trastevere, accompanied by a brass band, along Via Carlo Tavolacci, Via Emilio Morosini, Via Roma Libera, Piazza San Cosimato, and Via Natale del Grande. The festival closed in the square with music and fireworks, as per the district's tradition.
