Edition 2025 — San Filippo Siriaco

In 2025, the San Filippo Siriaco Festival renewed its secular rites in Calatabiano. The Calata of the float took place on Saturday, May 17, while Ascension Sunday saw the solemn mass and the procession of the reliquary bust. That year too, due to municipal elections, the Acchianata was moved to the last Sunday of the month, May 31.

The 2025 edition of the solemn festivities in honor of San Filippo Siriaco, co-patron and protector of Calatabiano (Catania), confirmed the vitality of a tradition documented for over three centuries.

The Calata was held on Saturday, May 17, announced by cannon shots fired every quarter of an hour from Monte Castello starting at 4:00 PM. On Ascension Sunday, after the morning cannon shots and church bells, the solemn mass was celebrated at 10:00 AM, followed at 6:00 PM by the triumphant exit of the reliquary bust from the Mother Church. The Acchianata, the evocative ascent of the statue towards the small church on Monte Castello, took place on Sunday, May 31.
