San Donato and Sant'Emidio Festival

The 2025 San Donato and Sant'Emidio Festival took place in Guardiagrele on August 6, 7, and 8, according to the traditional calendar confirmed by the local Pro Loco. On August 7, the day of the martyrdom of San Donato, the city's patron saint, the most solemn moment was celebrated with holy masses in the village churches, the procession through the historic center, and the participation of women carrying the antique copper basins adorned with flowers on their heads. On August 8, celebrations continued in honor of Sant'Emidio. The evenings featured brass band concerts, performances by Abruzzese folk groups, food stalls with local specialties, and a concluding fireworks display, set against the backdrop of the stone village at the foot of the Maiella.
