San Calogero Festival

The 102nd edition of the San Calogero Festival took place in Realmonte, in the province of Agrigento, from August 7 to 10, 2025. As per secular tradition, the festivities spanned four days during the weekend preceding Ferragosto, involving the historic center and the coastal hamlets of Lido Rossello and contrada Scavuzzo.

The rituals that make this festival unique were all present: the arrival and display of the statue, the tammurinara with its drums, the statue made to "dance" through the crowd, the pignati and greasy pole games, the throwing of votive bread from balconies, and the inevitable 500-kilo giant cake distributed for free in Piazza Umberto I. The 2025 edition was also celebrated with a philatelic cancellation dedicated to San Calò, testifying to the deep bond between the Realmonte community and its patron saint.
