San Biagio Festival

The 2025 edition of the San Biagio Festival in Bronte followed the centuries-old rite passed down since the 16th century. Festivities opened on the last Sunday of January with the descent of the statue from the small church of San Sebastiano and the preparatory triduum, marked by the blessing of candles in the square and the procession toward the Mother Church.

On February 3rd, the day of the liturgical commemoration, the city awoke to the sound of bells and cannon fire. After the masses, which included the traditional blessing of the throat, the afternoon featured the solemn procession of the float with the saint's statue along the streets of Bronte, on the slopes of Mount Etna in the province of Catania.
