The 2025 San Barsanofio Feast in Oria

The festivities in honor of San Barsanofio opened with the novena in the Cathedral Basilica, held from August 21st to 29th at 7:30 PM, featuring Eucharistic celebrations, readings from the correspondence, and prayers to the patron saint. The eve of August 29th featured the first vespers presided over by the Cathedral Chapter, followed in the evening by the "Party Salento" musical event in Piazza Lorch.

On August 30th, the day of the feast, morning masses were held, followed by prayers to the saint at noon, solemn vespers, and the solemn pontifical mass presided over by the Bishop of Oria, Monsignor Vincenzo Pisanello. This was followed by the procession through the city streets, with a stop at the crypt of San Barsanofio, and the ritual of the symbolic handing over of the keys by the Mayor. In the evening, a brass band concert in Piazza Lorch and a fireworks display concluded a feast deeply cherished by the entire Oria community and the entire Diocese.

• 12:00 PM — Prayer to the Saint
• 5:30 PM — Solemn Vespers
• 6:00 PM — Solemn Pontifical Mass presided over by Bishop Monsignor Vincenzo Pisanello
• Following — Procession through the city streets with a stop at the crypt of San Barsanofio and the key-handing ritual
• 9:00 PM — Brass band concert in Piazza Lorch
• Late evening — Fireworks display
