Edition 2025 — Salt Path Walk

The third edition of the Salt Path Walk took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, between Barletta and Margherita di Savoia, along the approximately 12 kilometers of the ancient salt cableway. Organized by Gli Amici del Cammino Barletta, the walk combined outdoor activity, local industrial history, and collective memory, with the contribution of the State Archives of Barletta and historian Michele Grimaldi.

Third edition, October 19, 2025

The third edition of the Salt Path Walk was held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, once again offering the slow-paced walk between Barletta and Margherita di Savoia along the 12-kilometer route of the old salt cableway.

The initiative, promoted by A.S.D. Gli Amici del Cammino Barletta, aimed to draw attention to an infrastructure that has since disappeared but was once a symbol of work and innovation for the Apulian coast. Thanks to the collaboration of the State Archives of Barletta and local historian Michele Grimaldi, participants were able to accompany the walk with anecdotes and archival documents, rediscovering the history of the workers and the transport of salt from the salt pans to the port of Barletta.

Programme

Non-competitive walk of approximately 12 km between Barletta and Margherita di Savoia along the route of the ancient salt cableway, featuring historical stories and archival testimonies provided by the State Archives of Barletta and historian Michele Grimaldi.
