Edition 2025 — Saint Valentine the Martyr

In 2025, on the second Sunday of August, Calasca-Castiglione renewed the Saint Valentine the Martyr Festival, patron protector of the Traditional Militia of Calasca. Religious services, uniformed parades, drills, and blank-fire volleys marked the day, accompanied by a brass band, kicking off the town's mid-August celebration cycle in the Anzasca Valley.

The 2025 edition

The Saint Valentine the Martyr Festival confirmed its role in 2025 as the opening event of the summer festivities in Calasca-Castiglione, in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. The Traditional Militia of Calasca honored its patron with the established ritual: Solemn Mass, the historical uniformed parade through the village hamlets, formation drills, and the inevitable blank-fire volleys.

The day, accompanied by the brass band, opened the usual cycle of the three Sundays around Ferragosto, which continues with the feast of the Madonna Assunta at the Sanctuary of the Gurva and the popular rite of Lugà la Madona, confirming the vitality of a centuries-old tradition.
