A centuries-old tradition of faith and love along the Jubilee Path of the Seven Churches
In Monselice, on the Euganean Hills in the province of Padua, Saint Valentine's Day is much more than an anniversary: it is a tradition of faith and popular devotion that every February 14th draws thousands of faithful and visitors along the Jubilee Path of the Seven Churches, the famous devotional route that climbs towards the Sanctuary.
The heart of the day is the spontaneous pilgrimage to the Seven Churches and the distribution, at the Oratory of San Giorgio, of the blessed 'golden keys': a rite rooted in the 17th century, linked to relics brought from the Roman catacombs, symbolizing protection and love. Distribution is handled by the Parish of San Giuseppe Operaio.
A widespread celebration develops around the ritual: the 'Heart Square' with a themed market organized by the Pro Loco, guided tours of the Pieve di Santa Giustina and the Sanctuary, extraordinary openings of the Castle of Monselice, the San Paolo Museum, and Villa Pisani, as well as ceramic workshops and photographic initiatives. An opportunity to experience the Euganean village in its most evocative period.
The 2026 edition of Saint Valentine in Monselice is held on Saturday, February 14th and Sunday, February 15th. The spontaneous pilgrimage to the Jubilee Path of the Seven Churches and the distribution of the blessed golden keys at the Oratory of San Giorgio are the heart of the event, organized by the Municipality of Monselice with Pro Loco, Ascom, and the Parish of San Giuseppe Operaio.
By train: Monselice station (Bologna-Padova line), a few minutes from the center and the climb to the Sanctuary. By car: A13 Monselice exit.
Distribution of the keys at the Oratory of San Giorgio in the afternoon (from around 2:00 PM). Free access to the festival; some guided tours and workshops require booking. Extraordinary openings of the Castle and museums with a ticket.
