Edition 2025 — Saint Sebastian

In 2025, Santa Venerina once again renewed its devotion to its co-patron, Saint Sebastian, with the traditional January festival. The Etnean community gathered around the venerated 19th-century statue, carried in a solemn procession through the town streets, amidst bell ringing, cannon fire, brass bands, and the gathering of Sicilian confraternities, according to a ritual passed down for over 160 years.

The 2025 edition of the Saint Sebastian Festival in Santa Venerina confirmed the vitality of a tradition deeply rooted in the Etnean community. On the last Sunday of January, the most heartfelt moments took place: the unveiling and transfer of the statue, the solemn Mass, the exit of the float from the Mother Church, and the procession through the streets of the center, with the statue pulled by the young rizzareddi. The participation of confraternities from all over Sicily, the brass band, and the fireworks marked a day of intense popular religiosity, culminating with the solemn Octave in the following days.
