Edition 2025 — Saint Sebastian

On August 19, 2025, Motta d'Affermo celebrated Saint Sebastian with the customary 'processione della questua'. The martyr's statue, placed on the 1619 'vara' adorned with colorful ribbons, was carried on the shoulders of barefoot 'nuri' along the streets of the Nebrodi village, in the province of Messina, amidst stops, blessings with the relic, and moments of popular celebration concluded in Piazza San Luca.

The 2025 edition

The 2025 edition of the Saint Sebastian Festival took place on August 19th in Motta d'Affermo, in the heart of the Messina Nebrodi. The community, together with numerous emigrants who returned for the occasion, renewed the tradition of the processione della questua: the nuri, dressed in white with a red sash and barefoot, carried the 1619 vara through the sloping streets of the town, stopping for the blessing with the saint's relic. The day, marked by religious celebrations and parades, concluded with music and entertainment in Piazza San Luca, confirming the village's strong identity bond with its martyr.
