Saint Roch Festival

In 2025, the Saint Roch Festival returned to Castrignano de' Greci on August 16th, renewing one of the most deeply rooted summer devotions in Salento. The community of the small village in Grecìa Salentina gathered around the pilgrim saint, venerated as a protector against epidemics.

The celebration combined, as per tradition, the religious moment — Holy Mass and the procession of the statue of Saint Roch along the streets of the historic center — with popular festivities, with illuminations lighting up the village and music accompanying the evening. A simple and heartfelt event, capable of telling the authentic soul of the Griko hinterland in the province of Lecce.
