The historic May 26th trade fair in the heart of Fabriano
The Saint Philip's Fair is one of the most established events in the calendar of Fabriano, in the province of Ancona, in the heart of the Marche Apennines. It is held every year on May 26th, the date coinciding with the feast day of Saint Philip Neri, and for generations it has marked one of the times when the city fills with stalls, voices, and activity, transforming the streets of the center into a large open-air market.
The fair occupies the main axis of the city center: the hub is Viale Moccia, but the stalls extend along Corso della Repubblica โ in its upper and lower sections โ reaching up to Piazza del Comune, Fabriano's monumental main square. To allow for setup, traffic is diverted from the early morning hours, and the entire area becomes pedestrian, returning the historic center entirely to visitors for one day.
It is a traditional mixed-merchandise trade fair. Among the fair stalls, traders, and vendors, you can find clothing, footwear, home linens, personal care products, crafts, home and garden items, as well as the unmissable street food specialties. The scale is significant: in recent editions, over two hundred stalls have been set up โ around 211 in 2025 โ making the fair one of the most crowded events of the year for the city.
More than just a market, the Saint Philip's Fair is an occasion for Fabriano and the small towns of the Apennine district to meet. The day attracts families, the elderly, and young people who take advantage of the fair for a stroll among the stalls, a purchase, and a stop at the cafes and shops in the center. The event, organized by the Municipality of Fabriano, retains the flavor of ancient village fairs, when religious holidays also marked the major commercial events of the year.
The fair is also an excellent opportunity to discover Fabriano, a UNESCO Creative City world-renowned for its handmade paper production. Between one stall and another, it's worth taking a look at Piazza del Comune with the Palazzo del Podestร , visiting the Museum of Paper and Watermark, or stopping at the historic shops in the center.
The 2026 Saint Philip's Fair confirmed its traditional late May appointment. On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, fair stalls, traders, and vendors occupied Viale Moccia, the Corso della Repubblica in its upper and lower sections, and Piazza del Comune. To allow the fair to take place, traffic restrictions and parking bans came into effect from 6:00 AM in the affected area, with diversions for heavy vehicles and regulated access to Piazza Amedeo di Savoia.
Mixed-merchandise fair: clothing, footwear, home goods, personal items, crafts, and street food, with over two hundred stalls distributed in the pedestrian area of the center.
