Edition 2025 — Saint Nicholas – St. Kloas

In 2025, Gressoney-Saint-Jean also celebrated St. Kloas, the Walser Saint Nicholas, on December 6th. The Saint crossed the village squares with his donkey, distributing sweets to children, while the eve of December 5th renewed the ritual of the note left under the plate. A festival that each year opens the Christmas season in the spirit of the German-speaking Alpine tradition.

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint Nicholas took place on December 6th in Gressoney-Saint-Jean, renewing the Walser custom of St. Kloas. After the eve's ritual, with children leaving a note with their name under a plate, the Saint paraded through the town squares accompanied by his donkey, distributing sweets and small gifts. An intimate and deeply felt event for the community, organized by the Walser Cultural Center, which each year allows visitors to experience the spirit of the Walser people at the foot of Mont Blanc.
