Saint Michael the Archangel Festival in Massannunziata

The 2025 edition of the Saint Michael the Archangel Festival took place as usual on September 29th, the liturgical feast of the Archangel, in Massannunziata, the only hamlet of Mascalucia in the province of Catania.

The community gathered around the Church of Maria Santissima Annunziata for the celebrations in honor of the patron saint. In the evening, the venerated statue of Saint Michael, a wooden sculpture from 1654 restored in 2023, was carried in procession along Via del Bosco, crossing the ancient core of the village amidst the participation of the faithful. An intimate and deeply felt feast, expressing the deep-rooted religious tradition of the slopes of Mount Etna.
