Saint Lawrence Patronal Feast

The 2025 festival

2025 was a year of special celebrations for the Basilica of San Lorenzo fuori le mura: the August patronal feast was accompanied by an extraordinary event on July 21st, dedicated to the 1800th anniversary of the Laurentian memory, which drew faithful and visitors to the district.

In the days around August 10th, the festival took place in its traditional form: the preparatory triduum with vespers and the descent into the catacombs, the solemnity masses, the distribution of blessed bread at the church entrance, the solemn evening Eucharistic celebration, and the procession with the statue of the Saint along the streets of the San Lorenzo district in Rome. The evening concluded, as is customary, with the fireworks display at Piazzale del Verano on the night of the shooting stars.
