Saint Lawrence Festival of Cavargna

In 2025, the patronal feast of Saint Lawrence confirmed one of the most evocative traditions of the Val Cavargna, in the Province of Como. On August 10th, during the concelebrated Mass in the parish church, the rite of the 'Barba di San Lorenzo' was renewed: the cotton wool casing hung from the ceiling was ignited, burning rapidly to symbolize the martyrdom of the saint.

A ritual gesture that the community of the alpine village cherishes and passes down with pride, a living testament to the popular religiosity of this border valley.
