Edition 2025 — Saint Joseph Festival

In August 2025, Rocca Pia celebrated as per tradition the Saint Joseph Festival, its patron saint, on the second Sunday of the month. The small village in the Upper Gizio Valley, within the Majella National Park, came alive with a solemn mass, the procession of the saint's statue, and civil festivities in the historic center, in an atmosphere of strong popular participation typical of patronal feasts in the interior of Abruzzo.

The 2025 edition of the Saint Joseph Festival confirmed the strong bond between Rocca Pia and its patron saint. The community of the mountain village in the Province of L'Aquila gathered on the second Sunday of August for religious celebrations dedicated to Saint Joseph, with a solemn mass and a procession along the village streets.

As per tradition, the devotional moments were accompanied by civil festivities in Piazza San Rocco, with music and conviviality involving residents and holidaymakers. The festival was part of an August full of events for the town, including the Sagra della pecora al cutturo, in a blend of faith, folk traditions, and flavors of the mountain Abruzzo.
