Edition 2025 — Saint Joseph in Licata
The festival on March 19, 2025
The 2025 edition of the Saint Joseph Festival in Licata followed tradition. On March 19th, the day of the saint's solemnity, the carpenters' guild organized the procession of the sculptural group of Saint Joseph with the Baby Jesus, a work by local sculptor Ignazio Spina kept in the Mother Church of Santa Maria La Nuova.
As every year, the day combined religious rites with popular customs: the Saint Joseph dinner in a carpenter's home, with children dressed as Saint Joseph and the Madonna, and the Saint Joseph soup made with fava beans and wild fennel, a symbol of sharing and charity toward the poorest.
