Edition 2025 — Saint John Acitrezza

In 2025, Acitrezza celebrated its patron saint, John the Baptist, on the central days of June 23, 24, and 25, with the 'U pisci a mari' pantomime on June 24 in the waters in front of the Scalo di Alaggio. Crowning the festivities was the 34th edition of the Swordfish Festival, held on the weekends of June 6-8 and July 4-6.

The 2025 edition confirmed the deep bond between the seaside village of Acitrezza (Aci Castello, Catania) and its Patron Saint. On June 24, the traditional 'U pisci a mari' pantomime was performed in the waters inside the old pier and in front of the Scalo di Alaggio, executed by local fishermen with a decorated boat, followed in the evening by the triumphal procession of the statue and fireworks.

The 34th Swordfish Festival was also a major protagonist, organized by the Saint John the Baptist Festival Committee together with the Confraternity: from June 6 to 8 and from July 4 to 6, from 19:30, the large grills at the Scalo di Alaggio roasted thousands of swordfish steaks, served with salad, homemade bread, and Etna white wine, accompanied by exhibitions of local handicrafts and typical products.
