Over 160 years of tradition in the village of San Giorgio di Pesaro
The Saint George's Fair is one of the longest-running and most beloved events in the hinterland of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. Founded in the second half of the 19th century, it boasts over 160 years of uninterrupted history and takes place every April 25th in the heart of San Giorgio di Pesaro, one of the four "Terre Belle" that make up the Municipality of Terre Roveresche, in the Marche region. The village, nestled around its medieval walled castle and surrounded by cultivated hills, vineyards, and oak forests, provides the ideal setting for a day that blends popular tradition, culture, and celebration.
The beating heart of the fair is the vast market of traders, open from 8 AM to 11 PM, with local artisan and food products filling the streets of the historic center. Alongside the market, there are numerous cultural initiatives: painting and photography exhibitions, displays of artisan crafts and ancient trades, traditional old-fashioned games, hobby and collectors' fairs. You can also visit the MuSA, the Historical Environmental Museum, with its sections dedicated to silkworm farming, beekeeping, and taxidermy collections.
One of the most curious attractions takes place at the Municipal Palace, featuring an aeromodelling exhibition with the opportunity to try a professional flight simulator: the "Flying over Terre Roveresche" experience allows both adults and children to virtually fly over the municipal territory.
Ample space is dedicated to gastronomy, with taverns and stalls offering traditional Marche cuisine dishes, while entertainment and dedicated activities are organized for the little ones. The day concludes with a grand musical evening at the sports field, a true highlight that attracts a large audience from the entire Metauro valley each year.
The Saint George's Fair is organized by the Municipal Administration of Terre Roveresche together with the Pro Loco of San Giorgio, the sports club "Sangiorgese", the Evangelisti Coniugi Foundation, and other local associations. All shows and exhibitions have free admission, a testament to a festival that remains deeply connected to its community and the agricultural and artisan roots of the village.
The 166th edition (approximately) of the Saint George's Fair was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in San Giorgio di Pesaro, a hamlet of the Municipality of Terre Roveresche. The village came alive from 8 AM to 11 PM with the vast market of traders, art and craft exhibitions, and ancient crafts. Cultural activities and the aeromodelling attraction with a flight simulator at the Municipal Palace were also confirmed, along with visits to the MuSA. The day concluded with a grand free-admission musical evening.
