Edition 2025 — Saint George Modica
2025 Edition
The 2025 edition of the Saint George Festival in Modica, in the province of Ragusa, experienced an exceptional circumstance: the patronal festival, linked for centuries to the month of April, was postponed to May 9-11 due to the period of diocesan mourning following the passing of Pope Francis.
Despite the shift in dates, the Modica community renewed its devotion with the traditional celebrations: the Triumphant Sciuta of the statue from the majestic Saint George Cathedral, the run of the sangiorgiari along the streets of the Baroque historic center, and the characteristic fireworks displays. A confirmation of the identity strength of one of the most heartfelt patronal festivals in Sicily.
