Saint Dominic and the Wolf Festival (Serpari Rite)

The 2025 Saint Dominic and the Wolf Festival took place in Pretoro on Sunday, May 4. In the morning, at 10 AM, the rite of the snake handlers was held in Piazza Roma with the awarding of the largest reptiles; at noon, along the Valle di San Domenico, the 61st edition of the sacred performance of "Lu Lope" was staged, accompanied by the recitation of the dialect poem by Raffaele Fraticelli.

In that edition, the role of the child was entrusted to little Salvatore Filippo, originally from Rapino (Chieti) and born in February 2025, as there were no new births in Pretoro. The celebration reaffirmed the twinning with Cocullo and the recognition as an Intangible Heritage of Italy by the Central Institute for Demoethnoanthropology.
