The 2025 Saint Blaise Festival
The 2025 winter edition took place in Militello Rosmarino, in the Nebrodi mountains in the Province of Messina, around February 3rd, the liturgical feast of Saint Blaise. The festivities opened with the Candlemas on February 2nd and the evocative rite of the sciara ca rama e i cannizzoli, with the laurel sapling procession and the fire in Piazza Lodato.
The patron saint's day featured mass with the blessing of the throat and the solemn procession of the 1596 Baroque vara, adorned with gold ex-votos, colorful ribbons, and silver bells, carried on the shoulders of the citizens. Among the most anticipated moments were the uphill run of the sambrasisi barefoot, the blessing of the ribbons, and the kissing of the statue by the children.
