Saint Anthony Abbot Festival

In 2025, the Saint Anthony Abbot Festival in Pescocostanzo took place from January 14th to 17th, with the main day on Friday the 17th. On the evening of January 16th, groups of choristers in traditional costume paraded through the village, performing the song that recounts the struggle between the Saint and the Devil. On the morning of the 17th, the great bonfire was lit in Largo Porta di Berardo, followed by the religious celebration at 11:00 AM and the blessing of the animals at noon. In the afternoon, the Festival Committee, together with the Pensioners' Association, managed the food stand with local specialties. In the evening, after the Mass in the small church dedicated to Saint Anthony, the most anticipated ritual was renewed: the release of the balloons from the town hall, with thirteen paper hot air balloons representing the months of the year and one dedicated to the Saint.
