Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony Abbot (Nuova Cliternia)

On January 16, 2025, the ancient peasant tradition of the song of Saint Anthony Abbot was renewed in Nuova Cliternia. The group of singers walked through the streets of the hamlet from house to house, accompanied by popular instruments and welcomed by families with local products and wine.

As every January 16th, in 2025 too, the hamlet of Nuova Cliternia, in Campomarino, celebrated Saint Anthony Abbot with the traditional begging song. The group of singers, made up of people of all ages, traveled through the village streets visiting homes, singing songs dedicated to the saint to the rhythm of accordion, concertina, guitar, and tambourine. In every house, the welcome was accompanied by offerings of cured meats, cheeses, and wine, renewing a rite of peasant origin that has survived through oral transmission in Adriatic Molise.
