Saint Anthony Abbot Festival

On January 17th, 2025, the community of Misterbianco, in the Metropolitan City of Catania, celebrated the annual liturgical recurrence of Saint Anthony Abbot, its Patron Saint. As every year, the hub of the festivities was the Mother Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where the traditional rites of the festival took place.

During the day, the ancient custom of the blessing of bread and animals was renewed, a gesture that recalls the saint's bond with the rural and pastoral world. After the Eucharistic celebration, the statue of the saint made its exit onto the steps of the Mother Church, welcomed by the devotion of the faithful, while the torchlight procession closed the day. 2025 was a particularly significant year, as the spectacular triennial Great Festival in honor of the Patron Saint also took place during the summer months.
