Saint Anthony Abbot Festival

The 2025 edition of the Saint Anthony Abbot festival in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto took place on January 17th, confirming a tradition that animates the Sant'Antonio district every year. The day focused on the solemn Mass in the parish, followed by the traditional blessing of the animals on the churchyard, with the faithful bringing dogs, cats, and other animals to receive the saint's protection.

As per custom, the statue of Saint Anthony Abbot was then carried in procession through the streets of the neighborhood. The festival reaffirmed the community's strong bond with its patron saint and with a cult deeply rooted in Sicilian tradition.
