Edition 2025 — Saint Agnes in Proceno

In 2025, Proceno confirmed its double festival for Saint Agnes of Montepulciano: the spring recurrence, linked to the liturgical memory of April 20th, and that of August 14th. On both occasions, the wooden statue of the patron saint, depicted in a Dominican habit, was carried in procession along the streets of the Viterbo village up to the Poggio di Sant'Agnese, the spiritual heart of the town since 1283.

2025 Edition

In 2025, the Saint Agnes Patronal Festival once again marked the calendar of Proceno, in the upper Tuscia of Viterbo, with its two traditional moments: the Sunday closest to April 20th and August 14th, the eve of Ferragosto.

The ritual remained the one handed down for generations: the wooden statue depicting Saint Agnes of Montepulciano in a Dominican habit carried in procession from the historic center to the church on the Poggio di Sant'Agnese, built on the site of the monastery of the Sisters of the Sack that the saint led as a very young woman.

The recurrence was accompanied by the usual moments of conviviality of the Proceno community. During 2025, the village also confirmed the other events that animate its year, from the festival dedicated to local red garlic to the autumn Polenta Festival.
