Edition 2025 โ€” Saint Agatha Gallipoli

The 2025 edition of the Saint Agatha Festival in Gallipoli followed the traditional ritual, with the grand procession on February 4th and the solemn Eucharistic celebration on February 5th in the Co-Cathedral. The silver statue of the Saint, accompanied by Saint Sebastian, local confraternities, and the band, traveled through the historic center, drawing thousands of faithful in a display of devotion that has been passed down in Gallipoli for centuries.

The 2025 festival

In 2025, Gallipoli renewed its ancient devotion to Saint Agatha, co-patron of the city alongside Saint Sebastian. On February 4th, the eve of the martyrdom, the solemn procession took place through the streets of the historic center: the silver statue of the Saint, carried on shoulders, paraded accompanied by the statue of Saint Sebastian, representatives of all local confraternities, and the notes of the town band, in a very long and well-attended parade.

The celebration of February 5th

On February 5th, the day of the martyrdom, the solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the bishop in the Co-Cathedral, featuring the traditional proclamation of a passage from the Gospel chanted in Ancient Greek, a sign of Salento's bond with the Hellenic tradition. The festival once again confirmed its strong identity value for the community of Gallipoli, in the province of Lecce.
