Edition 2025 — Passion of Christ Terracina

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, Terracina hosted the seventh edition of the Sacred Representation of the Passion of Christ, a special Jubilee edition with a logo granted by the Dicastery for Evangelization. About 100 performers reenacted the final hours of Jesus in an itinerant route from the churchyard of the Church of Purgatorio to the spectacular crucifixion set for the first time in the Roman Theatre.

The seventh edition, a special Jubilee

The seventh edition of the Sacred Representation of the Passion of Christ took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, starting at 8:30 PM at the Church of Purgatorio, in the historic center of Terracina. About 100 costumed performers brought to life the scenes of the Gospel narrative: the betrayal of Judas Iscariot, the Last Supper, the arrest in Gethsemane, the trials staged in Piazza Municipio, the condemnation, the Via Crucis, and finally the crucifixion and resurrection, set for the first time in the monumental setting of the Roman Theatre.

As a special edition of the 2025 Jubilee, the event was granted the use of the Jubilee logo by the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Holy See. A large screen in Piazza Municipio and a live broadcast on Lazio TV allowed everyone to follow the performance, while Poste Italiane dedicated a special figurative cancellation and a philatelic postcard to the event, available at the temporary counter set up in the square from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Programme

8:30 PM — departure from the Church of Purgatorio in the historic center. Sequence of scenic tableaux: betrayal of Judas Iscariot, Last Supper, prayer and arrest in Gethsemane, house of Annas, trials of Jesus in Piazza Municipio, Pilate's praetorium and condemnation, Via Crucis through the alleys of the upper town, crucifixion and resurrection at the Roman Theatre. Large screen in Piazza Municipio to follow all scenes; live television broadcast on Lazio TV.
