Sacred Ampulla Festival

In 2025, the Sacred Ampulla Festival renewed in Ortona, in the province of Chieti, the memory of the return of the relic of the Blood of Christ, which arrived in the city on June 29, 1934, 364 years after being stolen and taken to Venice. From June 2 to 14, the relic was taken on a pilgrimage to all the churches of the Ortona pastoral area, visiting the parishes of the neighborhoods and the city center. The celebrations culminated on Sunday, June 29, on the 91st anniversary of the return, with a solemn Holy Mass. The event, promoted by the Anno Domini 1566 association, confirmed the strong bond between the Ortona community and its most venerated relic.
