Rossini Opera Festival

The 46th edition of the Rossini Opera Festival was held in Pesaro from August 10 to 22, 2025, presenting four opera productions. The festival opened with Zelmira, an opera absent from the ROF since 2009, in a new staging by director Calixto Bieito (his Pesaro debut) and conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti. This was followed by L'Italiana in Algeri (directed by Rosetta Cucchi, conducted by Dmitry Korchak) and revivals of La cambiale di matrimonio and Il viaggio a Reims in Emilio Sagi's production. The program also included three rare Rossini cantatas and bel canto Concerts featuring Marko Mimica, Cecilia Molinari, and Hasmik Torosyan. The festival concluded on August 22 at the Teatro Rossini with the Messa per Rossini, performed in memory of the festival's founder and long-time superintendent Gianfranco Mariotti, who passed away in November 2024.
