The Rome Academy of Fine Arts Open Day is the annual event where the Capital's most important artistic and cultural training school opens its doors to the public. For an entire day, the Academy's three locations in the heart of Rome become accessible to prospective students, families, and curious visitors who wish to get a closer look at the educational offerings, facilities, and atmosphere of one of the oldest and most prestigious art institutions in the world.

Heir to the Accademia di San Luca

The Rome Academy of Fine Arts is the city's leading artistic and cultural training school. As the heir to the ancient Accademia di San Luca, it boasts some of the deepest roots in the international art scene. Today, it is an institution of Higher Education in Art and Music (AFAM) that trains hundreds of students from all over Italy and abroad, maintaining a close bond with the cultural life of the Capital and the Lazio region.

The three locations in the historic centre

The Open Day takes place simultaneously across the Academy's three locations, all situated within the historic centre of Rome:

• Via di Ripetta 222 — the historic main campus, just a stone's throw from Piazza del Popolo;
• Via del Corso 476 — in the heart of the city's commercial and monumental district;
• Campo Boario, Largo Dino Frisullo — the former Testaccio slaughterhouse, a space dedicated to contemporary languages.

Throughout the day, visitors can move between the locations, welcomed by staff, to get a complete overview of the various study and work environments.

The Academy presents its first and second-level courses, covering the entire spectrum of visual and applied arts: painting, sculpture, decoration, scenography, art graphics, editorial graphics, graphic design, photography, cinematography, audiovisual arts, fashion, design, new technologies for art, art education and communication, art therapy, and cultural heritage enhancement. Professors and students are on hand to discuss curricula, career opportunities, and admission procedures.

Orientation and inclusion

The event is primarily designed for high school graduates, but is open to anyone wishing to delve into artistic studies. Special attention is given to accessibility: at the Via di Ripetta location, an Inclusion Office info point is active, and LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpretation services are provided for deaf visitors, confirming the Academy's open and inclusive vocation.
