About Rivivere San Giorgio

Rivivere San Giorgio is the festival that, on the occasion of the patron saint's day, brings the Ancient Hamlet of San Giorgio in Lurago Marinone back to life. For an entire day, the hamlet comes alive with the re-enactment of ancient crafts, typical tastings, a community lunch in the courtyard, games for children and adults, and the extraordinary opening of the Church of San Giorgio and the museum of peasant life. An event organised by the Gruppo Ricordi together with the Municipality and the Pro Loco, in the province of Como.

The Hamlet Comes Back to Life

Rivivere San Giorgio is the festival with which Lurago Marinone, a municipality in the province of Como, celebrates its patron saint, Saint George, by bringing the Ancient Hamlet of San Giorgio back to life. For one day, the hamlet is transformed into a place suspended in time, where the atmospheres, gestures, and crafts of the past are revived.

Crafts of Yesteryear

From the morning, the hamlet comes alive with the re-enactment of ancient crafts, curated by the Gruppo Tradizioni e Costumi della Val Cavargna, accompanied by typical tastings of valley products. It is a precious opportunity to rediscover artisanal knowledge and authentic flavours, in a journey that involves both adults and children.

The Courtyard at the Table

The convivial heart of the day is "Il cortile a tavola..." (The Courtyard at the Table...), the community lunch that brings together residents and visitors to eat together in the hamlet, in the spirit of ancient village festivals. In the afternoon, from 2:30 PM, there is space for games and activities for children and adults, while throughout the day the Church of San Giorgio and the museum dedicated to past peasant life remain open.

Memory and Community

Organised by the Gruppo Ricordi together with the Municipality of Lurago Marinone and the Pro Loco, Rivivere San Giorgio is much more than a patronal feast: it is an act of care towards collective memory and the identity of the hamlet. An event that, in the heart of the province of Como, intertwines faith, tradition, and a sense of community.
