Pupe della Quarantana

In 2025, the Pupe della Quarantana marked the weeks of Lent in Conversano until Easter on April 20. Seven handmade fabric dolls were displayed in Piazza Castello, at the foot of the Castello degli Acquaviva d'Aragona, and in the streets of the historic center.

As tradition dictates, one doll fell every Sunday at sunset, from the most vibrant colors to the large final white doll, a symbol of Easter purity. The edition closed with the fall of the last doll on Easter day and the distribution of sweets and chocolate to children, organized by the Pro Loco Conversano Tourist Association.

Throughout Lent 2025, one doll fell every Sunday at sunset in Piazza Castello and in the historic center of Conversano, following the traditional order from the most vibrant colors to the white doll. The last one descended on Easter day, April 20, with the customary distribution of sweets to children.
