Procession of the Sacred Mysteries of Valenzano

The 2025 procession

On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, Valenzano relived its most identity-defining rite. From the morning, the fifty-four papier-mâché Mysteries gathered along Corso Aldo Moro before beginning the long procession through the streets of the historic center. As per tradition, with the exception of the Addolorata and the Dead Christ, which are church property, all statues were carried by the devout Valenzano families who guard them.

The procession saw the participation of over a thousand bearers, the «ragazze al pizzo»—the young unmarried women who accompany the Mysteries by holding their cords—costumed figures, and children dressed as angels, along with bands that accompanied the parade with solemn funeral marches, confirming the 2025 edition as one of the most deeply felt of the Holy Week in the Municipality of Valenzano, in Puglia.
