Edition 2025 — Nuri of Solarino
2025 Edition
In 2025, the procession of the Nuri of Solarino confirmed itself as one of the most deeply felt devotional appointments in the province of Syracuse. At dawn on May 4th, pilgrims gathered in Piazza del Plebiscito, where, after the parish priest's blessing, they began their long penitential barefoot journey toward the Sanctuary of Saint Sebastian in Melilli.
Dressed in white with a red sash across their chests, the nuri of Solarino covered the approximately 20 kilometers separating the two towns, joining along the way with devotees from Melilli, Sortino, and other towns in the Iblei mountains. Their arrival at the Sanctuary, around 9:30 AM, was part of the Feast of Saint Sebastian festivities held in Melilli during the first days of May, featuring processions, religious rites, and popular events.
