Procession of the Capidduzzu di Maria

The 2025 Procession of the Capidduzzu di Maria was held on Saturday, September 6 in Monforte San Giorgio, in the province of Messina. At dusk, from the mountain hamlet of Pellegrino, the relic of the Virgin's hair was carried on the shoulders of the faithful along the traditional four-kilometer route that leads from the Sanctuary of Crispino to the town's Mother Church.

The procession, illuminated by lights and marked by the sound of bagpipes, flutes, and tambourines, as well as the beating of the confraternity drums, saw the participation of a multitude of faithful with lit candles. The procession inaugurated the cycle of celebrations in honor of the Madonna di Crispino, which continued with the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin on Monday, September 8, and culminated with the solemnities on Sunday, September 14.
