Edition 2025 — Primitiva Chestnut Festival

The 28th edition of the Primitiva Chestnut Festival took place in Marzano Appio over the weekends of September 20-21 and 27-28, 2025, within the territory of the Roccamonfina Regional Park. Organized by the Pro Loco Città of Marzano Appio, it featured tastings of roasted chestnuts, chestnut soups and desserts, mushroom-based dishes, local craft stalls, live music, and performances. Thousands of visitors crowded the village streets from the very first evening.

The 28th edition: a success beyond expectations

The 2025 edition of the Primitiva Chestnut Festival was held in Marzano Appio (Caserta) over two weekends: Saturday 20 and Sunday 21, then Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September. The event, now in its twenty-eighth year, exceeded all attendance forecasts, with thousands of people arriving in the village from the opening evening.

The president of the Pro Loco, Andrea Cipolla, highlighted the work of the volunteer team in offering a complete experience, while the municipal administration spoke of a collective result, the fruit of coordination between security, logistics, and hospitality. Alongside the stalls with chestnut-based dishes and artisan stands, the program included live music, performances, an area dedicated to children, and a gathering of vintage Fiat 500s in Piazza Mercato. At the end of the festival, the organizers announced their goal to replicate and surpass the result with an equally extensive edition.

Programme

Saturday 20 and Saturday 27 September: opening of food stalls in the late afternoon, evening tastings of chestnut-based dishes (soups, desserts, roasted chestnuts, liqueurs), followed by live music, folk dancing, and performances. Sunday 21 and Sunday 28 September: morning walks in the chestnut groves, lunch with traditional dishes, afternoon folk group performances, and reopening of stalls in the evening. On Saturday, September 20, Piazza Mercato also hosted a gathering of vintage Fiat 500s organized by the Alto Casertano Coordination with the patronage of the Fiat 500 Club Italia.
