AIDOS' transfeminist day at the Circolo MONK in Rome to dismantle gender stereotypes
On Saturday, May 24, 2026, the Circolo MONK, a historic cultural venue in the Portonaccio district of Rome, hosts POSTER, the transfeminist festival promoted by AIDOS – Italian Association for Women in Development. A day of collective "good vibes," as the organizers define it, designed to dismantle the gender stereotypes and inequalities that still permeate language, bodies, and daily life. The event, which is free to attend, marks a festive and participatory conclusion to a three-year journey.
The afternoon at the MONK is dedicated to active participation: feminist consciousness-raising workshops, practices of expression, awareness, and bodily empowerment, reflection paths on gender-based violence, and activities designed for children and adults on the themes of emotions and creativity. The setting is enriched by installations, exhibitions, and thematic corners dedicated to gender stereotypes, health, and sexual and reproductive rights. Registration for the workshops is mandatory and subject to availability.
The evening changes pace and lights up the stage: at 6:00 PM, stand-up comedy by Frad, a sharp and unfiltered live show that weaves together feminism and irony; at 7:00 PM, a talk by Marina Cuollo on body, language, and identity; at 9:00 PM, a DJ set by Shubostar, featuring fluid and hybrid sounds that keep the party going late into the night.
The festival is the final act of the POSTER – Practices Beyond Stereotypes project, promoted by AIDOS together with the feminist communication agency Comunicattive and a network of organizations committed to education and the third sector. Launched in 2023, the project has directly involved over 2,000 people: more than 800 high school students, over 800 university students, non-profit activists, teachers, educators, and hundreds of journalism and media professionals, through extensive training and awareness-raising work.
In the weeks leading up to the festival, Rome was painted pink and blue with the major POSTER billboard campaign: dozens of advertising sites distributed across subway stations, markets, and universities throughout the city, aimed at overturning prejudices and bringing the topic of gender stereotypes into the public space. A way to reach thousands of people in the Municipality of Rome and throughout the Lazio region, beyond the traditional venues of activism.
With its mix of workshops, art, comedy, debate, and music, POSTER offers a multidisciplinary and inclusive formula capable of speaking to a wide audience without sacrificing the depth of its content. The free admission and the MONK venue, a landmark of the independent Roman cultural scene, make this day an event open to everyone, in the spirit of participation and change.
