Popsophia

The 2025 edition of Popsophia, titled "Abracadabra", took place in Ancona from May 8th to 11th, spanning four days from afternoon until late at night. The main venues were the Teatro delle Muse, the Pinacoteca Civica, and the Museo Omero.

The theme of magical thinking was explored day by day: from magical arts in visual art to the "magical Italy" of Ernesto de Martino and Dino Buzzati, from the "digital gods" of contemporary technomagics to the pop esotericism of the closing day. Among the evening philoshows, one was dedicated to the esoteric mysticism of Franco Battiato's songs with Carlo Massarini, one on magical realism in cinema from David Lynch to Federico Fellini, and one on the imaginary of great fantasy sagas. In 2025 too, the festival, directed by Lucrezia Ercoli, confirmed free admission and its strong public appeal in the Marche capital.
