The historic Elite and Under 23 cycling race in the heart of Treviso
La Popolarissima is one of the oldest and most prestigious road cycling races in Italy, reaching its 109th edition in 2026. Reserved for the Elite and Under 23 categories, it takes place in the heart of Treviso and effectively opens the spring classics season for young riders, many of whom will become future professionals.
The race is held on a city circuit starting from Viale Burchiellati: after an initial loop in the city, riders will repeatedly tackle a flat and fast circuit that passes through the historic districts of the capital—Borgo Mazzini, Borgo Cavalli, Porta Piave—for a total of about 175 km. The completely flat course favors sprinters and finishers.
The race is organized by U.C. Trevigiani, a historic cycling club from the Marca. La Popolarissima also hosts the Giovanni Pinarello Memorial, dedicated to the memory of the renowned Treviso-based bicycle manufacturer, and attracts dozens of Italian and foreign teams to the starting line.
Included in the international UCI calendar, La Popolarissima transforms the center of Treviso into a race circuit for one day: crowds along the streets, flags, and the popular atmosphere that gave the race its name. It is one of the most anticipated sporting events in the province of Treviso and the cycling region of Veneto.
The 109th edition of La Popolarissima was held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the center of Treviso. The course, totaling 174.7 km, featured an initial city loop of 14.1 km followed by a 14.6 km lap repeated 11 times, passing through Borgo Mazzini, Borgo Cavalli, and Porta Piave.
The start was given at 12:30 PM from Viale Burchiellati, with the finish expected around 4:45 PM on Viale Frà Giocondo. The race, valid for the UCI international calendar for Elite and Under 23, saw victory by Davide Persico ahead of a large group of participating teams.
Winner 2026: Davide Persico. Elite/U23 race on the UCI calendar, with Giovanni Pinarello Memorial.
The circuit winds through the historic center of Treviso, which is within walking distance of the train station. On race day, numerous road closures and parking restrictions are expected along the route, generally from the early morning hours until early afternoon.
Public access along the circuit is free. The start is from Viale Burchiellati, and the finish line is set up on Viale Frà Giocondo. It is advisable to consult the timetable to follow the different passages.
