Edition 2025 — Piantamaggio

On the night between April 30th and May 1st, 2025, the hamlets of Preci and the Campiano Valley renewed the Piantamaggio. Young people cut down and erected a beech or poplar tree in the square, decorated with a flowering cherry branch, amidst songs, music, food, and wine, in a deeply identity-forming spring rite for this corner of the Valnerina.

In 2025, the Piantamaggio was renewed again on the night between April 30th and May 1st in the hamlets of Preci and the villages of the Campiano Valley. According to tradition, young people cut a beech or poplar from the countryside, brought it to the square, and erected it, grafting the flowering cherry branch to the top.

The event, accompanied by songs, music, food, and wine, confirmed the vitality of an ancient rite, a symbol of spring rebirth and the transition to adulthood in the communities of the Valnerina.
