Piantamaggio of Ussita

On April 30, 2025, Ussita, in the Sibillini Mountains, Province of Macerata, celebrated the fifth edition of the Piantamaggio. The day began with the traditional breakfast at the Madonnella in Frontignano, in memory of Giuseppe Brandi, a historical figure of the town.

After the selection and cutting of the beech tree, the tree was carried on shoulders to Piazza dei Cavallari: here, the women stripped its bark amidst songs and folk verses, and the men raised it. The May tree, between 16 and 19 meters high, was decorated with the colors of the rainbow as a symbol against wars, inequalities, and discrimination. The festival continued with a tour of the village and a social dinner at the Pieve area, accompanied by music and dancing.

• 3:30 PM — Shoulder transport, bark stripping, raising in Piazza dei Cavallari, and village tour with singers.
• 8:00 PM — Social dinner and party at the Pieve social area.
