Towards Performa: the museum's 2025 season
The Performa Cavalese festival was launched in 2026 as its first-ever edition; it did not take place in 2025. During that year, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Cavalese, in the municipality of Cavalese (Trentino-Alto Adige), continued its exhibition activities dedicated to contemporary art, consolidating the role of Palazzo Rizzoli as a cultural space in the Val di Fiemme.
It was in this context that director Elsa Barbieri developed the idea for a new performance-based and participatory format, which was subsequently presented for the 2026 season. The museum's 2025 programming thus represented the background from which Performa emerged.
