Patronal Feast of San Simplicio Martire

The 2025 edition of the Feast of San Simplicio in Ancarano, in the province of Teramo, was marked by an event that sparked local debate. The municipal administration, led by Mayor Pietrangelo Panichi, decided to cancel the civil events scheduled for July 29—including the town band concert, the Premio Flajani award ceremony, and a twinning ceremony—citing the overlap with an initiative organized by the parish for the same evening, featuring the group "Vizi e Virtù".

Despite the cancellation of the civil portion, the religious celebrations in honor of the patron saint took place as scheduled, in the spirit of the devotion that has linked the Ancarano community to San Simplicio Martire and the Canestrelle tradition for centuries.
