Patronal Feast of San Gregorio Armeno

The 2025 edition of the Patronal Feast of San Gregorio Armeno took place in Nardò from February 13th to 20th, gathering the faithful and citizens around the patron saint.

The seven-day prayer animated the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta from February 13th to 19th with the confraternities' prayers. On February 19th, at 6:00 PM, the solemn pontifical mass was celebrated by Cardinal Dominique Mamberti, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, together with the Bishop of Nardò-Gallipoli, Monsignor Fernando Filograna, followed by the traditional procession.

The civic program featured two Candlelight concerts by candlelight at the municipal theater on February 18th (at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM). On February 20th, at 5:15 PM, the ceremony of the hundred tolls in Piazza Salandra commemorated the victims of the 1743 earthquake; in the evening, also in Piazza Salandra, the Tebaide d'Italia Symphony Orchestra performed with about eighty musicians. A fair and illuminations accompanied the entire week of festivities.

• February 13-19 — Seven-day prayer in the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta with the confraternities' prayers.

• February 19, 6:00 PM — Solemn Pontifical Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dominique Mamberti and Monsignor Fernando Filograna; followed by a procession through the city streets.
• February 20, 5:15 PM — Piazza Salandra: ceremony of the hundred tolls in memory of the victims of the 1743 earthquake.
• February 20, 8:00 PM — Piazza Salandra: concert by the Tebaide d'Italia Symphony Orchestra (about eighty musicians).
• Throughout the festival: fair and illuminations in the historic center.
